An Evening of Storytelling at Stone Mt. Arts Center

Dinner, drinks, and performances by professional Storytellers: Antonio Rocha & Dave Kobrenski

Our vision was to pull together our greater community and create an unforgettable event for you. We currently do not have the participation we had envisioned at this time, mainly due to unavoidable postponements and scheduling conflicts.  This means that with a heavy heart we are canceling Friday nights storytelling event.

We will be issuing refunds for all of those who purchased tickets.

  • Antonio Rocha (pronounced haw-sha), originally from Brazil, began his career in the performing arts in 1985. He has earned a Summa Cum Laude Theater BA from USM (University of Southern Maine) and studied with Master Marcel Marceau. Mr. Rocha’s unique and award winning solo fusion of mime and storytelling with mesmerizing voices and sound effects has been performed from Singapore to South Africa and many places in between. Antonio Rocha also loves to teach his craft and often facilitates workshops, not only for performers, but for those who want to incorporate storytelling into their business presentations and classroom.
A two time TEDx speaker, Mr. Rocha is a proud recipient of the coveted Circle of Excellence Award by the National Storytelling Network, and most recently the 2024 Maine Arts Commission Fellowship for the Performing Arts.

  • Enjoy Dave Kobrenski’s presentation that will combine music, storytelling, visual art, and photography into an entertaining and informative cultural experience.

Between 2001 and 2016, Dave traveled extensively in West Africa to study traditional music with master musicians, including Famoudou Konaté, Sayon Camara, Nansady Keita, and more. His apprenticeship with Lanciné Condé, a master of the Malinké flute tradition, lasted for fifteen years until Lanciné’s untimely death in 2021.

Dave plays the Fulani flute, kamale ngoni (a 10-string Mande harp), djembe, and balafon with his main music project, called Afroflute.

As an artist, Dave conveys his love for culture and diversity in his vivid portrait drawings and rich watercolor paintings. His artwork can be seen in his first two books, Djoliba Crossing and Drawing on Culture.
