Substitute Teachers

Northeast Woodland seeks Substitute Teachers for the 2023-24 academic year. Candidates for this position will have a strong desire to work as part of a team in a dynamic school committed to inspiring creative thinkers and discovering a unique connection to learning. The hours for this position are 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Responsibilities for this position may include:
Substitute teaching in Early Childhood and/or Grades 1-8
Substitute teaching in our Aftercare Programs (which runs from 3PM until 5pm)
Lunch and Recess Duties
Support for all teaching staff
Main Office and administrative duties, including answering phones and greeting visitors
Assisting in the school kitchen
Education/Experience Requirements
The ideal candidate will have experience as a substitute teacher with students ages 3–14 and must demonstrate skill, confidence, and expertise in working with students.
A Bachelor's degree is preferred. Work experience commensurate with a degree will be considered.
Waldorf training and teaching experience are a plus.

One to One Aide Job Description:
Under the supervision of a lead teacher, the aide will provide direct service to the individual student and participate in the daily instruction and activities of the class and school alongside the assigned student.
TASKS
Work closely with the lead teacher and educational support personnel to implement strategies and tools to assist the student in developing positive work habits and coping strategies.
Under the teacher's supervision, provide guidance to the student in a variety of individual and group activities to reinforce instructional objectives, implement IEP plans, and ensure student's success in school.
Adapts classroom activities and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher to support and reinforce classroom objectives and meet IEP Goals.
Work with the student one-on-one by providing her with additional attention, redirection, and encouragement to complete tasks without overly engaging in social play.
Implement behavioral plans to meet student’s needs for social, educational, and physical development in accordance with her IEP.
Monitors student's daily schedule and behavior plan to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
Take notes of important information such as areas of weakness or limitations for the Team to consider at meetings.
Communicate with the lead teacher and educational support personnel to assess progress toward IEP objectives.
Respond to emergencies such as injuries, fights, or medical issues to immediate resolution.
Assist and escort the student when necessary for transitions and arrival to/from destinations.
Maintain a professional relationship with child’s parents and observe confidentiality regarding school, child, and family matters
Support the lead teacher in implementing the daily rhythm when requested
Support healthy play dynamics and appropriate classroom management techniques
Care for the physical and emotional well-being of the child

After Care Teacher
We are looking for a dynamic after-school teacher to join our after-school program. In this role, you'll be in charge of overseeing and planning daily activities, preparing learning materials, and helping students with homework. You'll also communicate with parents to inform them about their child's successes and challenges.
To ensure success as an after-school teacher, you should be able to encourage social, physical, and intellectual growth within children and possess a strategic mindset. Ultimately, a top-notch after-school teacher should be a friendly, approachable individual with a passion for teaching and excellent communication skills.
Our program is divided into two groups with younger and older students. Both groups spend the largest portion of their time outside in all weather conditions.
After-School Teacher Responsibilities:
Planning, preparing, and implementing activities, games, and free play
Activities should focus on developing children's social and motor skills.
Incorporate a snack time and some quiet activities towards the end of the afternoon
Engage in storytelling activities and/or read-aloud appropriate for all
Preparing materials and equipment, such as books, arts and crafts, equipment for games, and other supplies as needed.
Interacting with children to provide guidance, emotional support, and motivation to complete tasks..

Job Description
The Aftercare Teacher will play a supporting role in the success of the school. They will contribute to the education and socio-emotional development of children in their level’s Aftercare program within a fully-implemented Waldorf Pre-k to 8th grade school. The Aftercare teacher’s role is to support the children, utilizing best practices in Waldorf instruction in a student-centered learning environment appropriate to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional needs of all learners.

Experience working with and instructing children
Knowledge of Waldorf pedagogy, principles, and methods for curriculum and instruction design, including teaching and instruction for individuals and groups and the measurement of instruction efficacy. If not credentialed, the teacher will pursue Waldorf Teacher Training with Northeast Woodland support.
Understanding of child development; the relationship between curriculum and child development; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
Knowledge of developmental and relationship based approaches to student behavior.
An ability and willingness to focus on pre-emptive student interventions to avoid escalating behaviors.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing formative and summative student assessment. This includes student needs assessment, adapting student work when appropriate, and evaluation of student performance.
Knowledge of a developmentally appropriate approach to introduction to sharingknowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media.
Knowledge of administrative and office procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing student work, and workplace terminology.
Ability to be outdoors and on your feet for extended periods (multiple times every day and for full days on some occasions) in all weather conditions, including below freezing temperatures, rain, and snow, while navigating uneven ground including mud, ice, snowy surfaces, and rocky/rooty trails.

Northeast Woodland Teacher Roles & Responsibilities
All teachers at Northeast Woodland will engage in professional behavior including, but not

Establish and enforce guidelines for behavior expectations and procedures for fostering a positive classroom environment.
Utilize a relationship based approach to classroom management including building awareness and engagement with our three care streams approach, the Integrative Student Support reference materials, and Kim John Payne’s work/tools for supporting students in the classroom.

Manage one's own time and the time of others. Establish healthy, breathing rhythms for the day, the week, and the year both for yourself and the students in your care.
Actively supervise and care for your in both indoor and outdoor settings.
Support students in managing conflicts by de-escalating elevated students and/or seeking support for situations you cannot manage alone.
Seek administrative support in addressing an issue with parents/guardians

Qualifications:
Waldorf Early Childhood Training or willingness to pursue it within three years of starting.
NH Teacher Certification or willingness to pursue it within five years of starting.
Ability to guide children in play and support children’s relationships with peers.
Responsibilities:
Teacher will create an atmosphere conducive to learning through free play.
Teacher will engage in daily storytelling
Teacher will create circles engaging children through song, verse, gross motor, and fine motor activities.
Teacher will model real life work activities like cooking, cleaning, mending, gardening, care of indoor and outdoor spaces
Teacher will scaffold activities for students experiencing challenges.
